Both teams are inconsistent and going by the results during the Six Nations earlier this year, rather evenly matched. I am backing Italy to take the win in front of their home fans this time around, covering the -5 handicap.

During the 2025 Six Nations, Wales U20 beat Italy U20 20-18 in a very tightly contested match.

Italy have had their moments but overall, I suspect they will be disappointed with their performance in their home World Championships. However, they have one final chance to stake a claim on Saturday.
Italy had a tough group with Ireland, New Zealand and Georgia. They were very impressive against New Zealand, losing 14-5 before defeating Ireland U20 for the second time this year 18-16. A win in their final game could have seen them clinch a place in the main semi-finals but disappointingly, they could only draw 19-19 against Georgia.
In the fifth-place semi-final, the Italians never really got going against Australia, losing the game 44-21. It would have been a match they fancied winning considering results in the tournament, but the youngsters just didn’t produce on the day.

There are likely to be a fair few changes to the Italians side for this final match.
Wales U20 Form
Wales U20 have once again been rather disappointing at the tournament. They finished third in their group, winning just one match.
The Welsh began their campaign with a 34-27 defeat to Argentina before going down 35-21 to France. They won their final group game 35-25 against Spain.
In their fifth-place playoff semi-final, Wales couldn’t repeat the heroics they produced during the 2025 Six Nations against England, losing the game 51-13.

Like their opponents, I expect Wales to make a number of changes to ensure the entire squad has sufficient game time.
