France should have enough to beat Italy on home soil this weekend, but I expect it to be a tight affair. My best bet is for Italy to get inside the 18-point handicap.

After the opening two rounds of the U-20 Six Nations, France are third with one win and one defeat. They have seven points, three off England at the top.

In the opening round, France were beaten 37-31 at home by Ireland. It was a fixture France perhaps should have won, but they let the game slip at crucial times.

A fortnight ago, France recovered to beat Scotland 29-14 away to regain some confidence. They will be keen to pick up a bonus point win this weekend to stay in touch with England and Ireland.

France are likely to make a few changes this weekend.

Italy U-20 Form

Italy have been disappointing in this year’s tournament after impressing in 2023. They are bottom of the table with two defeats from their two matches.

In their first game, Italy lost 36-11 to England at home. It was a disappointing performance, but England do have a strong side this year.

Last time out was a much-improved showing by Italy. They suffered a 23-22 defeat away to Ireland, a game they could easily have won. Up front they should be able to match France, but the trick will be keeping the French flamboyance at the back quiet.
