Wales vs France U20 Predictions

Wales feel short in the 2026 Six Nations U20 opening match and have struggled to beat France in recent clashes. France easily won their opening game and are on a winning streak against Wales.

  • France have won 3 of their last 5 fixtures in all competitions.
  • France have won 3 of their last 5 away games in all competitions.
  • France have defeated Wales 8 consecutive times.
  • Wales have lost 4 of their last 5 home fixtures in all competitions.
  • Wales have lost 3 of their last 4 home games against France.

Head to Head

France hold a commanding lead of 14 victories to three against Wales in 17 meetings since 2014.

Wales U20 Form

Wales failed to score any points in the second half in their opening Six Nations U20 Championship match against England last weekend, losing 19-16 away after leading 16-0 at half-time.

Before that, Wales had a fair tournament at the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship last July. They lost 34-27 to Argentina, 35-21 to France, and defeated Spain 35-25 before losing 51-13 to England and 31-23 to Italy, finishing eighth overall.

Wales will look to make amends after their recent narrow defeat, but they will have to play at their best to beat France, who have started the competition in excellent form and have won three of their last four home games against Wales.

France U20 Form

France thrashed Ireland in their opening Six Nations U20 Championship match last weekend, winning 50-21 at home after leading 31-14 at the break.

In July last year, France performed well at the World Rugby U20 Championship. They defeated Spain 49-11, Wales 35-21, Argentina 52-26, and lost 34-26 to New Zealand in the semi-finals, and 38-25 to Argentina to finish fourth overall.

France will fancy their chances of securing all the points on offer, as they were in fine form last weekend, scoring eight tries. They have also defeated Wales eight consecutive times, including a 63-19 victory in the Six Nations last season and a 35-21 win in the World Rugby Championship.

Team News

Wales

Osian Darwin-Lewis has stated he was pleased with his team's effort despite the narrow defeat to England last weekend: “We knew they’d have a purple patch, and it was about how we would manage that purple patch. That’s something we’ll learn from as we grow as a team.

“But there’s a lot of positives there. We showed what we can do, especially in that first half. Now it’s about doing it for 80 minutes.”

Steffan Emanuel scored a try against England last weekend.

Carwyn Leggatt-Jones landed three penalties and a conversion in the match.

France

Adrien Drault, Ruben Pargade, Roméo Martin,  Alexandre Latrasse, Mathéo Frisach, Melvyn Rates, Lucas Andjisseramatchi, and Baptiste Veschambre scored a try each against Ireland last weekend.

Tana Keletaona slotted five conversions in the match.
