The Brumbies began the season in spectacular fashion, scoring 50+ points away from home against the Western Force and Crusaders.

In the third round, it was less than straightforward but the Brumbies still managed a 30-27 home win against the Blues. Unfortunately for the Canberra side, this is where things started going wrong.

Against the Reds, the Brumbies just never really got going and they went down 34-31 at home, a very disappointing for a side who has built up a great reputation at home. Last week, the Brumbies lost again, this time 42-27 away from home against Fijian Drua.

Until then, the Brumbies had never lost to Drua before.

The Chiefs came into the 2026 Super Rugby season as favourites for the title after ending as runners up last season. With three wins in four matches, the Chiefs remain up there among the favourites.

An opening round 19-15 away win over the Blues got the Chiefs off to the perfect start. They won another close one in round two, beating the Highlanders 26-23 away from home.

Thereafter, the Chiefs were well beaten by the Crusaders at home, losing 43-33 – a result that shocked many given the Crusaders form at the time. Last week, Chiefs bounced back to thrash Moana 57-24.
