Chiefs vs Blues Predictions

The Blues season has been relatively poor as defending champions, but they remain a quality side. Earlier this season, the Chiefs beat the Blues at home by one point. I am backing the visitors to get within 8.5 points of the Chiefs once again.

  • Chiefs have won their last 7 home matches.
  • Chiefs have won 11 of their last 14 matches.
  • Chiefs have won their last 2 matches against the Blues.
  • Blues have won 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Blues lost their last match away to the Chiefs by 1 point.

Head to Head

The last 13 matches between these two sides sees the Blues lead 9-4. However, the Chiefs have won their last two against the Blues. This is a repeat of the 2024 Super Rugby final which the Blues won.

Chiefs Form

The Chiefs topped the Super Rugby table this season, winning 11 of their 14 matches, losing just three. They ended on 51 points, two clear of the Crusaders thanks to their bonus point count.

All three of the Chiefs defeats in 2025 have come away from home which will give them a lot of confidence heading into the playoffs. Last week, the Chiefs thrashed the Highlanders 41-24 away from home in their final round robin fixture.

The Chiefs last defeat came against the Hurricanes on 3 May. Since then, they have won three in a row against the Crusaders, Moana and Highlanders. All three victories were comfortable, including a 78-point win over Moana.

Blues Form

The Blues just managed to sneak into the final playoff spot with a victory in the final round. They have not put up the best defence of their title this season, however, they are in the playoffs now and remain a dangerous side.

The Auckland outfit won three of their last four matches which allowed them to get into sixth. They beat the Western Force 40-19 at home, Fijian Drua 34-6 away before losing 27-21 to Moana.

Last week the Blues were clinical against the Waratahs, a rival team for the playoffs. The Blues cruised to a 46-6 victory.
