Hurricanes have won two of their last three matches against the Chiefs. However, their last meeting took place in the 2024 Super Rugby semi-final, a match the Chiefs surprised many with a win.

The Hurricanes finished top of the table in the 2024 regular season, but they’ve had no consistency in 2025. They are currently fifth on the table with four wins, a draw and five losses in 10 games.

After thrashing the Waratahs at home at the end of March, the Hurricanes went three games without a win. They lost by a point to the Blues, by seven points to the Crusaders at home and drew 17-all against the Western Force.

Last week, against the odds, the Hurricanes produced a superb display in Canberra, beating the Brumbies 35-29. Another few good results and a top four finish may not be out of the question.

Both the Chiefs defeats this season have come away form home against Fijian Drua and the Waratahs. They will want to avoid a third against a strong Hurricanes side.

Last week, on home soil, the Chiefs were far too good for the Western Force, winning the game 56-22.
