The PGA Tour returns to North Carolina for the third time this year, where a host of seasoned professionals and rookies will compete in the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville tournament this weekend. Who will emerge victorious come Sunday?

The Cliff of Walnut Cove will host a PGA Tour event for the first time in its history.

Past Major winners Lucas Glover and Webb Simpson are in the field.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Jacob Bridgeman

Jacob Bridgeman was in decent nick in four starts on the PGA Tour between the beginning of July and mid-August, finishing T26 at the John Deere Classic, T28 at the Open Championship, T26 at the Rocket Classic, and T30 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship before finding form, placing T9 at the BMW Championship and T4 at the Tour Championship.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Bridgeman this season include a T4 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, a T13 at the American Express, a T18 at the WM Phoenix Open, a T8 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a victory at the Genesis Invitational, a T18 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and a T5 at the Players Championship, a T14 at the Valspar Championship, and a T11 at the RBC Canadian Open.

Bridgeman has been showing signs of returning to the winner's circle and can win the Biltmore Championship Asheville this weekend.

Davis Thompson

Davis Thompson has regained his touch after a wayward few months on the PGA Tour, placing T7 at the 3M Open, T8 at the Rocket Classic, and T14 at the Wyndham Championship.

Other notable results achieved by Thompson earlier this year include a 4th at the Puerto Rico Open, a T14 at the Valero Texas Open, a T6 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and a T13 at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

Thompson has been playing well lately and can pocket the winner's cheque in North Carolina this weekend.

Doug Ghim

Doug Ghim has been there and thereabouts on the PGA Tour lately, placing T15 at the RBC Canadian, T6 at the John Deere Classic, MC at the Genesis Scottish Open, MC at the 3M Open, T15 at the Rocket Classic, and T19 at the Wyndham Championship in six starts.

Additional highlights from Ghim's year include a T6 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and a T19 at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

Ghim has the form to feature prominently at the Biltmore Championship Asheville this weekend.

Ben James

Ben James has been in solid form on the PGA Tour since mid-July, placing T15 at the ISCO Championship, T4 at the Corales Puntacana Championship, MC at the 3M Open, T38 at the Rocket Classic, and 3rd at the Wyndham Championship.

Other prominent performances achieved by James this season include a T2 at the Puerto Rico Classic, a T5 at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, a T4 at the Hayt, a T5 at the Pauma Valley Invitational, a T4 at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial, a T5 at the ACC Men's Golf Championship, a victory at the NCAA Winston-Salem Regional, a T16 at the NCAA DI Men's National Championship, and a T23 at the U.S. Open.

James will be aiming to secure his maiden PGA Tour title at the Cliff of Walnut Cove come Sunday.

Verdict

Bridgeman has come good lately and can win the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville tournament come Sunday.

Thompson has a chance to win the title if he can replicate his recent results.

Ghim has threatened to produce a top result lately and should enter calculations in North Carolina.

James has had an excellent year and can upstage the others with a victory at the Cliff of Walnut Cove this weekend.
