A world-class field of the best women's golfers has assembled at the Bernardus Golf Club to contest the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands this weekend. Will Team USA retain the cup, or can Team Europe secure their fourth title in the last five editions of the competition?

In 2024, Team USA secured their first Solheim Cup since 2017 after beating Team Europe 15 1/2 to 12 1/2 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia, United States.

The Bernardus Golf Club was the host venue for the KLM Open on the DP World Tour between 2021 and 2023.

Past and present Major winners in the lineup include Nelly Korda, Jennifer Kupcho, Allisen Corpuz, Céline Boutier, and Maja Stark.

These are our best bets for the 2026 Solheim Cup.

The Teams

EUROPE: Charley Hull, Esther Henseleit, Lottie Woad, Maja Stark, Céline Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Linn Grant, Nanna Koerstz Madsen, Leona Maguire, Julia López Ramírez, Nastasia Nadaud, and Mimi Rhodes.

Captain: Anna Nordqvist

USA: Nelly Korda, Angel Yin, Jennifer Kupcho, Yealimi Noh, Auston Kim, Lauren Coughlin, Allisen Corpuz, Andrea Lee, Alison Lee, Lindy Duncan, Rose Zhang, and Megan Khang.

Captain: Angela Stanford

The Team To Win

The Solheim Cup has been contested in Europe nine times, with Team Europe winning the title on six occasions, compared to three times for Team USA.

Team USA have the advantage with 11 victories to seven over Team Europe, including one tie in 19 editions of the Solheim Cup; however, Team Europe have won three of their last four tournaments, twice at home and once away.

Team Europe often rise to the challenge on home soil in this competition, which gives them the advantage to regain the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands.

Top Points Scorer for Team USA

Nelly Korda has been in sublime form on the LPGA Tour this year, winning four events, including two Majors and recording three runner-up places.

Korda secured victories at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, the Chevron Championship, the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, and the U.S. Women's Open.

Other notable results achieved by Korda this season include a T2 at the Fortinet Founders Cup, a T2 at the Ford Championship, a T2 at the Aramco Championship, a T8 at the Kroger Queen City Championship, a T8 at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, a T16 at the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open, and a T4 at the AIG Women's Open.

The four-time Major winner has compiled an excellent record of 10-5-1 at the Solheim Cup.

Nelly Korda has been on top of her game this season, strengthening her position to become the top points scorer for Team USA this weekend.

Top Points Scorer for Team Europe

Charley Hull has had an excellent season on the LPGA and LET during 2026, securing a victory and performing well at the Majors.

Hull's best performances include a victory at the PIF Saudi Ladies International and placing T17 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, T10 at the HSBC Women's World Championship, T15 at the Aramco Championship, T10 at the Chevron Championship, T2 at the U.S. Women's Open, T16 at the Amundi Evian Championship, T6 at the AIG Women's Open, 2nd at the PIF London Championship, and T17 at the FM Championship.

Hull has compiled an impressive record of 15-9-3 at the Solheim Cup and was part of the 2013, 2019, 2021 and 2023 winning teams.

Charley Hull often plays well during this competition and will use her experience to emerge as the top points scorer for Team Europe in the Netherlands.

Tournament Winning Margin

A tight affair is expected at the 2026 Solheim Cup, as both teams boast plenty of quality, with the outcome likely depending on which golfers handle the pressure throughout the three days of competition.

Scores between Team USA and Team Europe have been tight affairs over the last five editions of the Solheim Cup, with Team USA winning 16 1/2-11 1/2 in 2017, and Team Europe 14 1/2-13 1/2 in 2019, Europe 15-13 in 2021, and a 14-14 tie in 2023 before Team USA won 15 1/2-12 1/2 in 2024.

Close, competitive match-ups are predicted, as both teams have talented players capable of making an impact, with Team Europe emerging victorious 15 1/2-12 1/2.

Format

The Solheim Cup takes place over three days, comprising 28 matches and 28 points at stake.

Each victory in a match is worth one point, and a tie is worth half a point.

Day 1: 4 Foursome matches in the morning and 4 Four-ball matches in the afternoon.
Day 2: 4 Foursome matches in the morning and 4 Four-ball matches in the afternoon.
Day 3: 12 Singles matches.

14 1/2 points are required to win the Solheim Cup, and 14 points are required for the defending champion to retain their title.

Verdict

Team Europe have had the edge over Team USA in recent editions of the Solheim Cup and have not lost on home soil since 2015, giving them the advantage to come out on top in 2026.

Nelly Korda has consistently shown she can perform at the highest level and will be a formidable opponent this weekend.

Charley Hull has every chance to be the top points scorer, as she has been one of Team Europe's best performers in this competition.

A tight contest is predicted between Team Europe and Team USA, with the home team set to lift the trophy with a 15 1/2-12 1/2 victory at the Bernardus Golf Club come Sunday.
