Sparkling Sky (5.50) has two third place finishes in her last three races but none of the other runners in the field has a third place in their last five runs aside from outright favourite Liefling.

Liefling place 3-2 in her last two runs, with a fourth place four races back and the 4-yr-old grey filly should steal this by a good length plus change. She has had her hooves up for 36 days so should be itching to hit the ground running.

Race 5 – Rachettu (10)

Protector of Peace and The Big Bang have the best odds in the early betting at 4.00, but Rachettu is strong on their tails and I’m backing the 4-yr-old bay gelding to steal their thunder.

Out of Vercingetorix and La Roquette, Rachettu finished a strong second in her last race at Kenilworth and has three Top 3 finishes in her last six runs and I like that consistency.

Race 6 – Superhero (4)

A strong field of eight with plenty of wins and Top 3 finishes still looks like a two-horse race between Devil a Saint (3.75) and Superhero (5.00). Red Dawn is highly favoured at 4.50 despite just one Top 3 place in his last six runs.

Devil A Saint has run 2-8-2-10-2-2 in his last six races, but I’m throwing my hat into Superhero’s ring. One year younger, Superhero has five Top 3 finishes in his seven career starts, finishing 2-2-1 in his last three runs so for me that’s a superstar in the making.

Race 8 – Gold Giboski (5)

Jockey: Mpumelelo Mjoka

Trainer: Justin Snaith

King Regent and The US Of A are top of the odds in the early betting, but I’m liking Gold Giboski to take the day’s feature race in what could be a tight three-way battle.

The 4-yr-old chestnut gelding has 10 Top 3 placings in his 12 career runs, and has had a stormer in his last seven runs, claiming 1-1-3-3-5-2-1 placings, so I’m backing the winner’s garland to hang around Gold Giboski’s neck at the end of the day.
