The 4-yr-old bay filly Princess Trippi has been staying fresh for 55 days and will be itching to hit the straights at Greyville. She has placed in the Top 3 in four of her seven career starts without a win, but she’s been hitting the tape consistently. Her last five finishes have been 4-3-3-2-3, so in a field with no recent wins it looks a recipe for Princess Trippi to raise a first career win.
Chooks Kiss is low in the odds at 3.25 after finishes of 2-5-3, but she doesn’t have as strong a track record at Princess Trippi, so she keeps my vote.
Race 5 – Run To Rio (2)

Trainer: Stuart Ferrie
Run To Rio has four career wins but none for over 11 months, so the 6-yr-old bay gelding is far from the race favourite despite finishing 4-3-3 in his last three runs. He is a strong runner, though, having finished in the Top 3 in 17 of his 37 career starts.
Ultra Quick is the form horse with finishes of 3-1-1 in his last three outings, but the 8-yr-old bay gelding’s legs might be weary after his three recent strong runs, so I’m sticking with Run To Rio to add to his four career crowns.
Race 6 – Sail To The Moon (4)

Trainer: Yogas Govender
Race 6 is light on recent winners, with just Meerkat Moon (4.00) finishing 1-3-3 coming into this race, while William Of Orange won his third-last race, but that was sandwiched between finishes of 8-9-7-6-6, so he looks low on consistency.
Winter Waves (8.00) has good form after recent finishes of 2-4-4-4, but Sail To The Moon is my pick in what looks a tight contest. Sail To The Moon has two wins and seven Top 3 finishes in his 24-run career but has been a bit inconsistent of late, finishing 3-2-7-1-8-5-7-6-2-3. He’s a bit all over the place but his powerful finishes in his last race gives me confidence that he could be in for a third career win.
Race 8 – Cappellino (8)
Jockey: Calvin Habib
Trainer: Wendy Whitehead
Cappellino and Bless Me Fred are level-pegged in the early odds in a strong field that includes Kaapse Klopse (5.50) and Little Cracker (7.00) as runners who won their last race. Bless Me Fred’s last four runs have been 3-4-12, but the 8-yr-old bay gelding has had an inconsistent two years and, having run just 16 days ago, I can’t see him having the legs to outpace Cappellino.
The 6-yr-old bay gelding Cappellino has two wins, three second places and two third-places in his last 15 races so he’s a lot more consistent and should have more in the tank after a 34-day break. I’m backing him for the win in what should be a thrilling final race of the day.
