Race 1 – Protector of Peace (8)

Jockey: J van der Merwe | Trainer: Justin Snaith

Perfect Impact has been in good form, with two second places in his last three races, but they were sandwiched between an 8th place and a 10th spot. I like the look of Protector of Peace, the 4-yr-old bay gelding who has had 37 days since his last run. He comes into this race after placing 3-4-3 in his only three races this year, so he should be hot to trot.

Race 3 – Sugar Daddy (5)

Jockey: Callan Murray | Trainer: Justin Snaith

Blizzardboy, Waloyo Yamoni and Mercenary all look like strong challengers, but my money is on Sugar Daddy. The 4-yr-old bay gelding has just two starts under his belt, starting with a 5th place in November before snatching 2nd place 27 days ago, both times running at Kenilworth. There are no other previous winners in the field, so his form should take him to the tape first.

Race 6 – Chance Encounter (10)

Jockey: G Wright | Trainer: Willem Nel

Race 6 has a strong field, with five good challengers line up, but I’ve ring-fenced Blind Date, Give it Laldy, Chance Encounter and Foudre to be nosing it to the line. All but two of the runners have a win in their last five outings, but Chance Encounter has run 3-3-4-1 since September and I’m backing the 4–yr-old gelding to hold off Foudre, who looks strong after his first two runs saw him place 2nd out of 14 before winning his last race ahead of 10 other challengers.

Race 9 – Flying South (2)

Jockey: Chad Little | Trainer: Glen Kotzen.

Flying South has had a busy six months, pulling in six top three placings in her last seven races. A 48-day break from racing will have charged her batteries ready to repeat her win from two races back.
