The 4-yr-old bay filly Korluca has had just six runs in her first year of racing but has picked up four third places (three in her last three races), a fourth and a fifth place finish.
She has competition from Flying World (3.50) who has run 2-2-4 coming into this race and Vixeninthevineyard (13.00) who isn’t favoured by the bookies but has been consistent with finishes of 2-3-2-3-5-4 ahead of Tuesday Turffontein. Lanteri (15.00) is another consistent finisher but doesn’t look likely to be at the head of the pack, although runs of 4-4-3-4-10 suggest there is potential for a better run if she breaks well from the gates.

The 8-yr-old chestnut gelding Bloomington has five wins and 21 Top 3 finishes in his 64-race career and has run pretty well in his last five outings (3-4-7-2-3). Bay Empire (5.00) was looking good after running 2-2-3 before a sixth-place run ahead of this race day.
Dear Doc (4.50) and Red Sparrow (7.50) both placed third in their last run but neither has been in winning form. King Bluetooth has had three double-figure finishes, a sixth place and a fourth place in his last six races, but did snag a win just two races ago, but his odds of 17.00 highlight his inconsistency.
Race 8 – Fostinovo (6)

The 7-yr-old bay gelding Fostinovo has been running hot, with finishes of 1-2-1-2-8-2 and will be hard to beat. Sea Shanty (8.00) won his last race for a fourth career win in 28 starts, but finished in third place just once in his previous seven runs.
Sunset Warrior has high odds of 11.00 despite finishing 1-2-6-4 ahead of this race. Ariovistus, Father Christmas, Chieftan’s Shield and Gunboat also have first places finishes in their last six runs, but Fostinovo’s biggest threat looks to come from Frere Jacques (4.50). The 5-yr-old bay gelding was on a hot streak of 4-1-4-2-1 finishes before blowing out in his last race by finishing last.
Race 10 – Quiet Winter (10)

Magic Carpet Ride (11.00) finished first three runs ago but followed that up with finishing fifth and sixth in her lastt two runs. Stage One (19.00) also ran first three races ago but followed that up with a fifth place before finishing at the back of the field in his last race.
Whatsdamatterwithyou (4.50) is a strong candidate to take the tape first, but Quiet Winter is a 4-yr-old bay filly that has my backing. She has seven Top 3 finishes in her 13 starts, although she hasn’t finished above third place in her last eight runs after her maiden career win in November last year. She finished in storming fashion in her last race, nipping in for third place but finishing just a neck-plus-change behind the winner, so I think she’s ready for the wreath.
