Race 1 – Impressive (5)

An inexperienced field has opened things up for Impressive to storm her way to a first career win. Coming on the back of a 3rd place and then a 2nd place finish, the 3-yr-old grey filly has the legs and the form to leave the rest of the field in her wake.

The bad news is the odds on her leave little gravy on your betting slip, so if you’re looking for better odds have a flutter on War Dog (8.00) or Lucky Awesome (4.5), but it should take a major piece of bad luck to hold Impressive back from the tape.

Race 3 – Brigitte Anne (2)

Trainer: Johan J Vuuren

The 4-yr-old bay filly has had her hooves up for 46 days and should be well rested. Destiny’s Dream (1.84) is the runaway favourite but she’s a bit inconsistent, having started with a run of 5-3-4-9 before a 116-day break, followed by a brilliant 2nd place in her last race.

I'm behind Brigitte Anne, not just because of the more profitable odds if she takes the tape, but because she’s a consistently strong runner, with finishes of 3-4-4-2-3 in her five career runs. She’s been well rested after each race and I fancy her to break tape first as she will be hungry for the win.

Race 5 – Salute the Flag (5)

Trainer: Candice Dawson

This is a power-house field, with five hot horses all looking strong to push for the win. A bad break from the gate or a couple of extra long strides could changes things up, so this is a tough call.

Romily, Russian Nobility, Geostorm and Plumbago Park all come into this meet on the back of wins, with Romily (4.00) and Geostorm (4.00) the favourite with the bookies.

Russian Nobility is also high ranked at 5.00, but I like the look of Salute the Flag. In his last four outings he has placed 2-4-8-3, but I like the way he fought his way from the back of the pack in his last race to fight up into third place. In such a tight field I’ll go for the strongest horse offering the most tempting odds, which is Salute the Flag.

Race 7 – Utsaah (4)

Jockey: Craig Zackey

Trainer: Sean Tarry

The feature race of the day has a strong field, with Shivering Light coming into the race after winning her debut race, although it was in a field of five runners.

Beautiful Rania and Greenandgold also won their last outing, but I like the legs and consistency of Utsaah, who also won her last race. The 4-yr-old bay filly last ran 44 days ago and comes into this race on the back of finishes of 4-3-4-4-2-1, so she has my backing.
