Both sides have won three of their opening four games in the NPC this season. However, Otago have struggled on occasion against some weaker sides, so my best bet is on Tasman to cover -13.5.

Tasman go into this fifth-round clash sitting fourth on the table. They have three wins from their four games and victory here will send them above Bay of Plenty and possibly into second or first, depending on other results.

Going into the 2025 NPC tournament, Tasman were the bookmakers’ favourite to win the competition, but they suffered a heavy 37-7 loss to Bay of Plenty in round one. They have since bounced back superbly.

In round two, Tasman cruised past Manawatu at home before beating Northland away. Last weekend, Tasman defeated North Harbour 42-19 on the road.

Otago Form

Otago are right behind Tasman in the NPC table in fifth place. They have the same points after also winning three of their four games, but have an inferior points difference.

Otago began with an away success against Southland before losing 27-21 at home to Hawkes Bay in round two. They bounced back well, beating Wellington 46-41 away from home a week later.

Last weekend, Otago were too good for Counties Manukau, winning 33-19 on home soil.
