Perpignan placed fourth in the European Challenge Cup Pool 2 after they defeated the Dragons 41-17 at home, lost 44-31 to Benetton away, and 26-19 to Newcastle away before drawing 20-20 with the Lions at home.

Perpignan have played two Top 14 away games since those results. They lost 37-31 to Racing 92 and 41-21 to Stade Francais.

Perpignan must find a way to improve their away form to have a chance of victory in their round of 16 match against Montpellier, having lost 11 consecutive games, and three of their last four visits to their opponents' stadium.
