Northampton Saints vs Newcastle Predictions - Saints to down Newcastle Red Bulls in season opener

Northampton Saints have the advantage over Newcastle, with 28 victories to ten in 38 meetings.

Northampton Saints finished as the leading team in the Premiership during the regular season, securing a home semi-final against Leicester Tigers, winning 45-31 before defeating Exeter 26-17 in the final, to win their second title in three years. 

Saints placed first in the Premiership Rugby table with 74 points from 18 matches. 

Northampton beat Newcastle 28-27, Bath 41-38, Bristol 94-33, Gloucester 36-32, and Leicester Tigers 45-31 in their last five home league games in their previous campaign. 

Northampton Saints will fancy their chances to start their title defence with a victory against Newcastle, as they were in fine form last season, especially at home, going undefeated during their campaign, including winning nine in a row. 

Newcastle Red Bulls struggled to another disappointing season in Premiership Rugby in their previous campaign, securing only two victories for their efforts. 

The Red Bulls finished bottom of the Premiership Rugby table with 12 points from 18 games.

Newcastle lost 73-14 to Saracens, 28-27 to Northampton Saints, 62-3 to Leicester Tigers, 69-12 to Bath, and 54-21 to Gloucester in their final five away league matches last season. 

Newcastle will be looking to their new recruits to guide them to a solid upcoming season; however, they have a tough season opener against the defending PREM Champions, Northampton, having lost seven of their last eight visits to their opponents' stadium.
