Australia and South Africa had to content with very wet conditions last week, something that will hopefully not be the case tomorrow. However, while the Aussies couldn’t deal with it, South Africa did an admiral job in getting a draw.

These two have not met for a few years and certainly not whilst they had the crop of players currently available to the coaches.

Australia U-20 Form

Much like South Africa last week, Australia’s opener against Argentina was played in torrential rain on the Sunshine Coast.

The Aussies couldn’t deal with the conditions and Argentina made them pay, scoring three tries to none. The 25-6 scoreline was quite a shock considering how strong Australia were at the U20 World Cup last year.

This week, in what will hopefully be better conditions, the Junior Wallabies will certainly want to get back into their own game. They like moving the ball around which is tough in wet conditions.

Australia were very disappointing last weekend against the Argentines. Expect quite a few changes this weekend.

South Africa U-20 Form

South Africa will be slightly disappointed coming into this round two fixture of the first ever Rugby Championship U20 tournament with only a draw to their name.

However, all considered, the 13-all draw in New Zealand last week was a decent effort by the Junior Boks. The hosts dominated large parts of the first half in a match that was played in very wet and windy conditions.

The Baby Boks held firm on defence before taking control in the second half. The hosts scored in the dying minutes to secure the draw.

South Africa U-20 Injuries & Team News

Changes are almost certain for the Baby Boks this weekend. They have a reasonably strong squad but combinations need to be tested.
