After last week’s defeat New Zealand are expected to come out firing this weekend. Much like against South Africa a few weeks back, one would think the All Blacks will produce the goods this time around, but the handicap of 13 still seems generous to the visitors.

This is perhaps the worst season in the professional era for New Zealand rugby. They looked like they had turned the corner with that victory over South Africa at Ellis Park, all for it to just fall flat last week.

It was the first time Argentina had ever beaten the All Blacks in New Zealand, and only the second victory Los Pumas have had against the much-vaunted New Zealand side.

New Zealand have now lost six of their last eight matches which is unheard of for the All Blacks. Their only two wins came against Ireland in the first of three Tests and three weeks ago against South Africa.

The pressure on Ian Foster was released post that win in Johannesburg as he was secured of a job until the World Cup. Fresh calls for his sacking have already begun.

Ian Foster has named an unchanged team for this match. He has faced huge backlash in the media for it but he has made changes on the bench.

Argentina Form

Argentina had a poor year in 2021 which was completely understandable considering that they had been playing away for two years. But 2022 has proven a very different kettle of fish.

Los Pumas suffered defeat in their Rugby Championship opener but bounced back to comfortably beat Australia in the second match. They followed it up with a first ever win in New Zealand by 25-18 last week.

Whether they can once again put in such an impressive defensive performance remains to be seen. It will however take some doing considering how much defensive work they had to do last Saturday.

Argentina are top of the Rugby Championship table as things stand and should they get a result here, they could be in prime position to win their first title.

Michael Cheika has made four changes to his side. Juan Martin Gonzales, who scored the only Argentine try last week, moves to the bench with his spot going to Santiago Grondona.

Santiago Cordero and Tomas Cubelli have been recalled to the starting lineup.
