New Zealand looked really good in parts against Australia but their defence let them down numerous times. Argentina on the other hand showed themselves to be a formidable attacking force, so I think they can cause the Baby All Blacks some problems. My best bet is for Argentina U20 to get within the +14.5 handicap.

The Baby All Blacks will be looking for a much better showing in their second U20 Rugby Championship. After winning the tournament last year, they’ll be eager to assert their dominance once again.

In their opening game, the U20 New Zealand side drew 29-29 with Australia. It was a cracking encounter that swung from one side to the other. In the end, the New Zealanders probably should have held on for victory after a superb second half.

However, Australia fought back with two late tries, the last of which came three minutes after the hooter.

There are likely to be upwards of eight or nine changes to the New Zealand side. Generally, there is huge rotation in these tournaments to test all the players in various combinations.

Argentina U-20 Form

The Argentines were impressive during the U20 Rugby Championship in 2024, beating Australia and losing narrowly to South Africa.

However, they were well beaten by the Baby All Blacks on that occasion. Last week, in their opening 2025 Rugby Championship match, the Pumitas lost 36-25 to the hosts, South Africa.

Argentina led at the break after a good first half showing but fell away in the second half to allow the hosts back into it. In the end, the Pumitas put up a decent fight, but it wasn’t enough.

The Pumitas are likely to make some changes but probably less than their opponents.
