South Africa head coach Jacques Nienaber has made eight changes to the side as he looks for a response from the abject display last Saturday.

Some changes have been enforced while others are to give players game time. But it is hard to ignore the poor form of some of the top players within the squad.

Handre Pollard, Lukhanyo Am and Pieter-Steph du Toit have all been ruled out because of knee injuries. Elton Jantjies injured his hand so he is also unavailable.

This means that Damian Willemse moves from fullback to flyhalf, Jesse Kriel takes over from Am at outside centre while Willie le Roux comes in at fullback. Franco Mostert will start at blindside.

The 19-year-old Canan Moodie will make his international debut on the wing after a superb breakout season with the Bulls in the United Rugby Championship. He starts ahead of Warrick Gelant who has moved to the bench.

Jaden Hendrikse starts at scrumhalf ahead of Faf de Klerk.

Malcolm Marx starts ahead of Joseph Dweba at hooker while Steven Kitshoff comes in at loose-head. Jasper Wiese takes over from Duane Vermeulen at the back of the scrum.

This is a must-win clash for the Springboks if they are to stay in contention for the Rugby Championship title. It is the most open race for the title we have ever seen so with all four teams still in it, expect some exciting clashes.

South Africa: 15 Willie le Roux, 14 Canan Moodie, 13 Jesse Kriel, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Makazole Mapimpi, 10 Damian Willemse, 9 Jaden Hendrikse, 8 Jasper Wiese, 7 Franco Mostert, 6 Siyamthanda Kolisi (captain), 5 Lodewyk de Jager, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Malcolm Marx, 1 Steven Kitshoff.

Replacements: 16 Deon Fourie, 17 Retshegofaditswe Nche, 18 Trevor Nyakane, 19 Albertus Smith, 20 Duane Vermeulen, 21 Jacobus Reinach, 22 Francois Steyn, 23 Warrick Gelant.
