France U20’s have been in superb form this season with their only defeat coming to England in the Six Nations. They went on to win it despite that loss.
The French began their U20 World Rugby Championship in great form, thrashing Spain 39-11. That was followed by a 35-21 victory over Wales, a game France U20 would have hoped to win more comfortably, but a few key players were rested.
In their final group game, France produced their best performance yet, putting 50 past Argentina to win 52-26. It was a dominant display, but they will have far tougher opposition in the Cup semi-final.
New Zealand U20 Form
New Zealand U20 have had a very similar 2025 to France in many respects. The Baby All Blacks won the U20 Rugby Championship this year, beating South Africa and Argentina and drawing against Australia.
Their World Championship opener was not plain sailing though as a tough Italian side lay and wait. New Zealand came out of that game with a 14-5 victory. That result was followed by a 8-19 success against Georgia, another game where New Zealand didn’t look all that fluent.
They hit top form in the third game against a struggling Ireland side, cruising to a 69-22 victory. That result should give them confidence heading into this semi-final against the defending champions.
