South Africa vs Georgia Predictions
The only thing stopping a very comfortable Springbok win is complacency. South Africa are in good form and have picked a strong side. I am backing them to comfortably cover the -46.5 handicap.

Head to Head
These two sides have only met once before with South Africa winning comfortably.
South Africa Form
South Africa are the dominant team in world rugby at the moment. They are the double World Cup winners and Rugby Championship holders.
While their 2025 season has only recently started, the Springboks already look in ominous form. In a non-official game, they thrashed the Barbarians before facing Italy twice in the last two weeks.
The first game against the Italians was a struggle, particularly the second half where South Africa were poor. They won the game 42-24. Last week was a far better performance, although Jasper Wiese’s red card meant they played most of the game with 14 players.
Still, the Springboks went on to win 45-0. Stretching back to 2024, South Africa have won their last seven matches, including the Barbarians. Their last defeat was a one-point loss in Argentina.
South Africa Team News
Rassie Erasmus has a blend of youth and experience this weekend. The front row is all uncapped players with Boan Venter, Neethling Fouche and Marnus van der Merwe making their debuts. However, Siya Kolisi comes back into the side to captain with Eben Etzebeth and Pieter-Steph du Toit all starting.
The backline looks very explosive with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu partnering with Grant Williams as halfbacks while Kurt-Lee Arendse is at wing. Damian de Allende and Canan Moodie are in midfield with Aphelele Fassi at 15.
Georgia Form
Georgia are one of the stronger tier two nations alongside Fiji and Japan. Over the years, Georgia have constantly improved and continuously challenge top nations.
In the past, Georgia have had a good forward pack but not much thereafter. That is no longer the case, however, their recent form isn’t particularly strong.
Two weeks ago, before leaving for South Africa, Georgia were hammered 34-5 by Ireland. While on paper it isn’t a poor result, one must remember that Ireland are without the majority of their players who are with the British & Irish Lions.
Last week, in a warmup clash for this match, Georgia faced the Cheetahs, a provincial South African side. No international players of South Africa featured in that game and yet the Cheetahs scored late on to win 24-20.
Georgia Team News
One would expect Georgia to make a few changes to the side that lost to the Cheetahs last weekend. I do expect them to have a similar team from a fortnight ago against Ireland.
Verdict
South Africa are backed to cover the -49.5 handicap.
