Italy beat Wales last season during the Six Nations and the visitors have not won since the 2023 Rugby World Cup. I am backing Italy to take the win.

Two of the last three matches have gone Italy's win against Wales.

Italy had one of their best years in 2024, finishing the Six Nations with victories over Scotland and Wales and a draw against France.

When the Southern Hemisphere sides came to visit in November, Italy were very disappointing against Argentina but did bounce back to beat Georgia and put in a strong showing against the All Blacks.

The Italians will be disappointed with their result last weekend. They lost 31-19 in Scotland, not a terrible result, but it shows how much Italy have improved that they were disappointed as the win was there for the taking.

After last week’s defeat, I don’t see Italy making many changes to the side on home soil.

Wales Form

Wales need to find a way out of this terrible run. Their last victory in any game came during the 2023 Rugby World Cup. They lost all Six Nations games in 2024, two games in Australia in July and all their November internationals.

With 13 straight defeats, Warren Gatland must be feeling plenty of pressure at the helm. To add to that, there are many off-field issues, particularly around finance plaguing the nation.

Last week, Wales lost their Six Nations opener 43-0 to France away from home. There was very little to celebrate bar perhaps the Welsh scrum which did hold firm.

Gatland is likely to ring the changes within the Welsh side. He has a young squad and needs to find the balance and quality within the players at his disposal.
