Brumbies vs Western Force Predictions
The Western Force are playing some good stuff, but come up against a Brumbies outfit who won’t be complacent in a play-off. I'm backing a comfortable victory for the hosts, so my best bet is the Brumbies covering the -14 handicap with ease.
- Brumbies have covered the -14 handicap in their last 4 matches against the Western Force.
- Brumbies’ Folau Fainga’a has scored 4 tries in his last 6 starts.
- Brumbies have won 19 of their last 21 home matches.
- Brumbies have won their last 11 matches against the Western Force by an average margin of 17 points.
- Western Force have lost by 16 and 28 points in their last 2 matches against the Brumbies.
Head to Head
The Brumbies have won their last 11 matches against the Western Force.
Their last match ended 42-14 in favour of the Brumbies in round six of the 2021 Super Rugby AU competition.
Brumbies Form
The Brumbies finished second on the Super Rugby AU table with 29 points, four behind the Reds at the top. The only two defeats the Brumbies suffered this season were against the Reds.
Over the course of the season the Brumbies have not reached the levels they were at last season but should still have enough to qualify for the final. They have already beaten the Western Force comfortably twice this season.
The Canberra-based outfit will want to regain some form ahead of the final though. They struggled to a 24-22 win over a weak Waratahs outfit in round seven before losing 24-22 to the Reds the following week.
In their last match the Brumbies beat the Rebels 26-20 at home. It was their 19th win in their last 21 home fixtures.
Brumbies Injuries & Team News
The Brumbies had a bye last week which certainly benefits them coming into this match.
There are a couple of changes expected with Nick White likely to start at scrumhalf ahead of Ryan Lonergan who got an opportunity in the last match.
James Slipper will also be pushing for a starting birth in the front-row in place of Scott Sio.
Western Force Form
The Western Force have made the playoffs against all odds this season. They never looked like getting close until some very impressive displays in recent weeks.
By round eight of the tournament the Force still only had one win but then beat the Rebels 16-15 in Melbourne with a last minute converted try. That was followed by another last minute win, this time 31-30 against the Waratahs via a penalty after the hooter had gone.
Qualification still looked improbable going into the final match where the Rebels had to face the Reds who had won seven from seven. The Reds raced into a 14-point lead early on but a spirited comeback along with a Jordan Olowofela hat-trick secured a huge win for the Western Force.
Western Force Injuries & Team News
The Western Force will not be keen on making too many changes. They are in good form with three wins in a row.
Their season changed gear once Argentine Domingo Miotti was handed the flyhalf jersey and he should continue in that role. Alongside him at scrumhalf is countryman Tomas Cubelli who is having a fine season himself.

Verdict
The Brumbies have covered the -14 handicap in their last four meetings with the Western Force. I'm tipping the men from Canberra to do it again. Folau Fainga'a can be looked at in the tryscoring markets once those odds are released.
