Super Rugby Round 3 Fixtures & Odds

Moana Pasifika vs Western Force
Friday, 27 February @ 08:05 SAST

Moana began the season with a good win over Fijian Drua but fell well short last weekend, losing 52-10 to the Hurricanes. The Western Force on the other hand have lost both games at home - first to the Brumbies and then Blues, conceding 50 and 40+ points in each.

Moana are favourites for the win, priced at 1.53 while the Force are valued at 2.50. The handicap is set at 4.5 points, something that might entice those that fancy Moana to get the job done at home.

Reds vs Highlanders
Friday, 27 February @ 10:35 SAST

The Reds made a disappointing start to their campaign, losing 36-12 at the Waratahs in round one. The Queensland outfit had a bye last weekend. The Highlanders on the other hand made a superb start, defeating the Crusaders 25-23 at home. Unfortunately, the Dunedin-based outfit lost 26-23 to the Chiefs at home in round two.

The Reds are favourites in their first home game of the season with a price of 1.75. The Highlanders can be backed at 2.10 with the handicap at a mere 1.5 points. Given the how competitive the Highlanders have been at home in the opening two rounds, the question remains whether they can transfer that form to away days.

Fijian Drua vs Hurricanes
Saturday, 28 February @ 05:35 SAST

Fijian Drua have improved each season upon joining the competition but have been slow out of the blocks this season - losing both of their opening games. In round one, Drua went down to Moana by 14 points at home before losing 36-13 to the Waratahs in Sydney. The Hurricanes had a bye in round one and began their season with a 52-10 hammering of Moana in round two.

The odds are heavily stacked in the Hurricanes favour with the handicap set at 14.5 points. Drua are paying 5.00 for the win while the Canes are available at 1.15. Given Drua's impressive home record over the last few years, it will be risky backing the Canes at those odds.

Brumbies vs Blues
Saturday, 28 February @ 07:00 SAST

The Brumbies are top of the table with two bonus point wins in the first two rounds. They comfortably beat the Force in Perth but quite impressively, thrashed the Crusaders 50-24 last weekend away from home. The Blues lost out narrowly in round one to the Chiefs but bounced back last weekend, beating the Western Force 42-32 away from home.

Brumbies are clear favourites with odds of 1.36 while the Blues are paying 3.20. The handicap is set at 7.5 points and given the Brumbies opening two performances, they are certainly favourites to cover that at home.

Chiefs vs Crusaders
Saturday, 28 February @ 08:05 SAST

This is the fixture of the round...or should be at least. The Chiefs have started with two wins while the Crusaders, the defending champions, are struggling after losing both of their opening games. A narrow round one loss to the Highlanders was an upset but acceptable, but last week they were hammered at home by the Brumbies, something that will be of great concern.

The Chiefs are favourites at 1.30 while the Crusaders are paying 3.35 for the win. The handicap is set at 8.5 points and pays 1.91 either way.
