Champions League predictions - 25 February 2026, Knockout phase play-offs

As anticipation builds for the Champions League Round of 16, Dortmund and Galatasaray are poised to join heavyweights PSG and Real Madrid, promising an electrifying series of matches. PSG aims to score big with a strategy focused on both teams scoring and a total goal count exceeding 2.5, while Real Madrid is tipped to win with both teams finding the back of the net. The preview suggests high-scoring and action-packed games, setting the stage for a captivating football spectacle.

Champions League Predictions, K/O playoffs

Atalanta vs Dortmund


Dortmund bring a 2-0 lead from the first leg at home and they should be good to defend that advantage. Unbeaten in their last five games - with four wins - they’ve scored 22 goals in their last 10 matches, while Atalanta have scored 16. 

Atalanta have won 10 of their last 12 home games, while Dortmund have just four wins in 10 matches on the road, but there are only two losses in those 10 games. They lost 2-0 to Spurs and 4-1 to Man City, but with their solid defence I’m backing a draw.

Juventus vs Galatasaray


Juve are in disarray after being trounced 5-2 away from home by Galatasaray in the first leg. They’ve lost four of their last five matches, without a win, while Galatasaray have won five of their last six.

Galatasaray have scored a whopping 20 goals in their last six matches, while Juve have scored just seven. Home and away form is strong for both sides, so based on Galatasaray’s goal-scoring record in recent weeks and the fact that Juve will throw everything at them as they have nothing to lose, I’m backing a goal frenzy in this clash.

PSG vs Monaco


Monaco are a team on the skids, with just three wins in their last 10 matches, losing four times. PSG are a true powerhouse, even though they haven’t been at their best this season. They have won five and drawn one of their last seven games, scoring 16 times. 

PSG hold a slender 3-2 lead from the first leg away from home, but I see them holding firm against Monaco’s desperate onslaught before breaking their spirit with two late goals as the visitors push for an equaliser. Monaco might force a draw, but PSG will nab at least two goals.  

Real Madrid vs Benfica


This is not the Real Madrid of old, but neither is it the Benfica of former years. Benfica beat Real 4-2 at home in their last group match but Real are always tougher in knockout matches, as seen in their 1-0 away win in the first round playoff knockout match against Benfica a week ago.

Benfica’s away form isn’t great (D-L-W-L-D-W), while Real have won all of their home games this season aside from back-to-back defeats against Celta Vigo and Man City late last year. It might be a tight one, but this is Real’s game to clinch their path to the Round of 16. Real have scored 28-9 at home in their last 10 matches, while Benfica have failed to score in three of their last five matches on the road. 

Verdict

Dortmund and Galatasaray to ease into the Round of 16, along with PSG and Real Madrid.
