Western Force vs Reds Predictions

The Western Force know they need a positive result if they are to reach the play-offs. However, it will be extremely tough to do so against an unbeaten Reds outfit, but they have it in them to give a good account of themselves. I’m tipping the Reds to win the match by 12 or less points.

  • Western Force have won their last 2 matches.
  • Western Force lost 26-19 in their last match against the Reds
  • Reds have won their last 7 matches.
  • Reds have already qualified for the final of Super Rugby AU.

Head to Head

The Reds have won their last three matches against the Western Force. In their last match the Reds won 26-19 at home earlier this season.

Western Force Form

The Western Force are third on the table heading into the final weekend of Super Rugby AU’s round robin stage. They are two points clear of the Rebels but could fall out of the final playoff spot should they suffer defeat.

The Force's season looked just about over after suffering a heavy 42-14 defeat to the Brumbies in round six but their last two matches have revived hopes of a playoff spot.

A last minute try against the Rebels in round eight saw the Force beat the Rebels 16-15 in Melbourne. That pushed them within touching distance of the Rebels in third place.

Then the Western Force climbed above the Rebels into third place with a 31-30 win over the Waratahs last weekend. It was once again a last minute score via a penalty that handed them the win.

Western Force Injuries & Team News

Rob Kearney and Toni Pulu come in at fullback and right wing this week with Jack McGregor and Richard Kahui moving to the bench.

The only other change sees Greg Holmes start at prop ahead of Santiago Medrano.

Reds Form

The Reds come into this match on 32 points and already secure of top spot. That means regardless of the result they will host the final in two weeks time.

The Queensland side have won all seven matches thus far. Over their last three fixtures the Reds have seen off the Waratahs 46-14, the Rebels 44-19 and the Brumbies 24-22.

Last week the Reds had a bye and they will be off next week as well as second and third place fight it out for a place in the final.

Reds Injuries & Team News

Hunter Paisami comes back from injury into the outside centre position while Filip Daugunu starts at wing ahead of Jock Campbell.

Among the forwards, Ryan Smith drops out, Angus Scott-Young moves to lock from flank and Liam Wright starts at flank.

Verdict

The Reds have picked up wins in their last seven games and should be too strong for the Western Force. Like their last encounter, I expect this to be a close match. A victory for the Reds by 1-12 points is my bet for this one.
