2025 Durban July Entries
Dominating the betting for this year's Durban July is crack three-year-old Eight On Eighteen. Justin Snaith's star has won the Cape Town Met and the Cape Derby this season, and bounced back from a shock defeat in the WSB Guineas by thrashing his rivals in the Daily News 2000. Eight On Eighteen continues to shorten at the head of the betting and could potentially become the first odds-on favourite in the history of this historic handicap.
Oriental Charm is fancied to defend his crown, having finished second in the Met and the Gold Challenge on his two most recent starts. Immediate Edge thrust his name into the Durban July ring with an impressive triumph in the Jubilee Stakes and he'll be the sole runner for the new training partnership of Mike and Mat De Kock.
See It Again has won just one of his last 12 starts, but will return for a third crack at the Durban July. Gladatorian beat See It Again in the Drill Hall and finished ahead of that rival again when third in the recent Gold Challenge. Last year's third, Royal Victory sits prominently in the betting with WSB, along with Jet Master Stakes winner The Real Prince.
Justin Snaith's pair of Okavango and Native Ruler will also represent this year's Classic generation in the 2025 Durban July. Confederate was rated 118 after a runner-up finish in that three-year-old contest. Dolphins Cup winner Madison Valley, and WSB 1900 winner Selukwe have jumped up the betting after winning recent trials.
