The Lions beat the Pumas twice last season, scoring 50+ points on both occasions. In Nelspruit, the Lions won 75-21 and in Johannesburg 55-12.
Pumas Form
The Pumas have made a strong start to the 2025 Currie Cup with two wins from their three matches.
In round one, the Pumas comfortably won at home against Griquas before losing out 42-25 to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. However, the 2023 Currie Cup winners bounced back with a superb performance in round three as they beat the Bulls 41-7.
While the Bulls did rest a host of players for this fixture, it was still a performance that will give the Nelspruit side plenty of confidence.

At home the Pumas will certainly want to keep the winning momentum going. I expect a strong side to be selected.
Lions Form
Last season, the Lions should have won the Currie Cup but lost it with the final kick of the game after they merely needed to kick the ball out. However, that is now behind them as they look to claim another title in 2025.
The Johannesburg-based outfit began the season with a dominant performance against the Sharks, winning the game 46-5. They backed it up a week later, thrashing Western Province 40-19 at home.
Last week, however, the Lions surprisingly fell short against Boland, losing 29-10. While the Lions made quite a few changes to their side, not many expected that result.
