Bordeaux Form
Defending champions Bordeaux were in tremendous touch during their European Rugby Champions Cup Pool 4 qualifiers. They defeated the Bulls 46-33 away, thrashed the Scarlets 50-21 at home, thumped Northampton Saints 50-28 at home, and beat Bristol 27-15 away.
Bordeaux have played three home matches in the Top 14 this season since then. They lost 33-28 to Stade Francais before beating Castres 57-32 and Toulouse 44-20.
The Bordeaux Begles produced excellent results during the qualifiers and have won six of their last seven home games, giving them the edge needed to beat the Leicester Tigers and advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.
Leicester Tigers Form
The Leicester Tigers did not have an ideal European Rugby Champions Cup pool stage campaign. They lost 39-20 to La Rochelle away, 23-15 to Leinster at home, and beat Bayonne 57-14 at home before losing 39-26 away to the Stormers.
Leicester have had success away from home in the Premiership Rugby Cup and Premiership since those results. They defeated the Harlequins 36-7 and lost to the Northampton Saints 40-22 before beating Saracens 31-26 and Gloucester 36-17.

Team News
Bordeaux
Centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg has stated that his team are not thinking too far ahead in the competition: “When you start getting into these playoff games you’re in a position where you really want to go to the end.
“But you can’t go to the end if you don’t win the weekend’s game and I think that’s the mentality for us. Because if Sunday doesn’t happen then next week won’t happen.
“We’re not thinking about the double.”
Leicester Tigers
Head coach Geoff Parling highlighted what makes Bordeaux such a good team: “I think this is a chance for us to grow ourselves and test ourselves against one of Europe’s best. They’re a quality opposition, but the way we play our game, as long as we’re on and get some bits right then we can achieve some good things.”
“They are very good at transitions, that’s the main thing for me. If you lose the ball, they are one of the very best at exploiting that, both through their hands and their feet.”
“You’ve got to try and limit their transitions which is easier said than done but they’ve got threats everywhere, I’m aware they are a quality team.”
Ollie Chessum, Joe Heyes, and Nicky Smith will be rested for the round of 16 match against Bordeaux this weekend.
Leicester Tigers have signed Mako Vunipola, Joe Jenkins, Joel Sclavi, and Jack Doorey-Palmer ahead of next season.
Verdict
Bordeaux were in great touch during the pool stages and are tipped to cover the -25.5 handicap in their Investec Cup round of 16 clash with the Leicester Tigers.
