This weekend marks the second round of the European Champions Cup, with matches slated from December 12-14, 2025. Last week's matches saw incredible action with major upsets, like the Stormers' victory over Bayonne. Key fixtures include Leicester vs Leinster, Stormers vs La Rochelle, and Munster vs Gloucester. Betting predictions favor Leicester overcoming a 7.5-point spread against Leinster, and Stormers sustaining their winning streak despite La Rochelle's weakened squad. The best bets for the weekend include Northampton covering a -21.5 spread against Bulls, a Bath win over Toulon, and Munster beating Gloucester by over 16.5 points.

European Champions Cup Round 2

This coming weekend sees the second round of the European Champions Cup take place. Matches will take place across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Last weekend saw some cracking action among Europe's elite sides and we expect nothing less this time around. There were major upsets, the biggest of which was probably the Stormers win in France against Bayonne.

Match Odds

Leicester Tigers vs Leinster

The odds have dropped somewhat over the last 24 hours with the handicap moving from 10.5 to 7.5. I still feel, given Leinster's average start to the season, that the hosts came cover 7.5 at 1.90. The Tigers are priced at 3.20 to win with Leinster at 1.36.

Stormers vs La Rochelle

The Stormers have made a superb start to the season, winning their opening six games in the URC and their first Champions Cup game last weekend. Returning home, the Cape side are not playing at their usual home ground, however, they should not be short on support in Nelson Mandela Bay.

La Rochelle will not be at full strength for this away game, but despite the hosts solid start, I struggle to see them covering the -19.5 handicap at 1.90.

Clermont vs Sale

Clermont are huge favourites at home with a handicap set of 16.5 against Sale Sharks. An upset win for the English side will pay 7.00.

Sharks vs Saracens

On paper, the Sharks have one of the best sides in the tournament, but they have struggled this season again. John Plumtree has stepped down as head coach, which may rejuvenate a very talented squad. Saracens are favourites at Kings Park and will pay 1.66 for the win. A home win pays 2.20 with the handicap at 2.5 points.

Bordeaux vs Scarlets

The bookies expect the hosts to run riot in this fixture, and I can't find a reason to go against them. The handicap against Scarlets is set at 37.5, paying 1.90 either way.

Munster vs Gloucester

Munster have been good this season but disappointed at Bath last weekend. They will want to bounce back on home soil and should do so against Gloucester. Munster look good value on -16.5.

Glasgow vs Toulouse

Glasgow are very good at home and Toulouse, despite being favourites to win the cup, have not taken all their best players to Scotland. Glasgow on +8.5 may be a good bet, but for this one we might want to look at the lineups first.

Castres vs Edinburgh

Castres were superb at home last season and have once again made a decent start this time around. They are favourites, paying 1.53 for the win with Edinburgh priced at 2.50. The handicap is at 4.5. This is a game I am steering clear of with a result tough to predict.

Harlequins vs Bayonne

Bayonne will be disappointed with their loss at home to the Stormers last weekend, but they do not look particularly keen to bounce back. Players are being rested or are likely to be rested. The hosts have, however, not been all that good this season, which makes the 16.5 handicap a difficult prospect.

Northampton vs Bulls

The Bulls have been very poor this season with pressure already being placed on new head coach, Johan Ackerman. A trip to Northampton is never easy, so I fancy the hosts to cover the -21.5 handicap with comfort.

Toulon vs Bath

This is the game of the weekend or at least looks like it could be. The bookies have given Toulon the slight edge with a 2.5 handicap. Toulon are paying 1.61 to win with Bath valued at 2.30 to upset the odds in France. Bath fancy their chances at the title this year and this will be the perfect game to test their credentials. I can see Bath causing an upset, but I wouldn't put my house on either of these sides.

Bristol vs Pau

The handicap is set at 18.5 in the host's favour. While both have been inconsistent this year, there may be some value in backing the hosts at 1.90 to cover.

This Weekend's Best Bets for Round 2 (12, 13 & 14 December)

Here are my best three tips for the weekend.

  • Northampton -21.5 vs Bulls at 1.90
  • Bath Win against Toulon at 2.30
  • Munster -16.5 vs Gloucester at 1.90
