Head to Head
Scarlets and Pau meet for the first time in a competitive match.
Scarlets Form
The Scarlets lost a close-fought European Rugby Champions Cup opener against Bristol 16-17 at home, and were thumped 50-21 by Bordeaux away from home.
The Scarlets have played four home fixtures in the URC this season. They lost 34-21 to Munster, 34-0 to the Stormers, and defeated the Glasgow Warriors 23-0 before losing 26-19 to the Ospreys.
The Scarlets have not been at their best lately, and face a tricky test against a Pau side that has done well in the Top 14 this season.
Pau Form
Pau lost their opening European Rugby Champions Cup fixture to the Northampton Saints 35-27 at home before being thrashed 61-12 by Bristol away from home.
Pau have had some success in their last five Top 14 matches away from home. They lost 33-17 to Toulon, 15-10 to Racing 92 and defeated Bordeaux 34-33 and Montauban 53-17 before losing to Lyon 22-17.
Pau have been enjoying a solid season so far, and will quietly fancy their chances of recording their first win in the competition when they travel to take on a lacklustre Scarlets side.
Team News
Scarlets
Head coach Dwayne Peel has commented on the reason his team has struggled so far this season: "Are we happy with where we are this season? No. Are we happy with where we finished last season? Yes, we were probably on track to where we wanted to go, but we haven't kicked on this season. There are reasons behind that, we've had some high profile injuries etc."
Sam Lousi, Jake Ball, Taine Plumtree, and Blair Murray are expected to return to the starting XV.
Pau
Gregoire Arfeuil has crossed the try line twice in this edition of the European Rugby Champions Cup.
Axel Desperes has landed three conversions and two penalties in the competition so far.
Verdict
Pau come into this match in better shape than the Scarlets and are tipped to cover the +8.5 handicap.
