North Harbour have endured an atrocious season, losing all nine NPC matches to date. They only have six points and sit bottom, nine behind their opponents in this final round fixture.

Going into this match, the last of the season, North Harbour will be eager to at least get one win on the board. And I wouldn’t put past them considering their decent performances of late in the NPC.

Despite losing, North Harbour have lost three of their last four matches by three, one and one point. Last week, against a top of the table chasing Otago, they were solid again, losing 41-26 away from home.

Southland Form

Southland started the season quite well, surprising some teams along the way. They have three wins this season and currently sit on 15 points.

While Southland can no longer drop to last place, they can, with a victory, potentially get up to 11th, depending on other results. However, their recent performances have been poor, conceding 50+ points in their last four matches.

Last weekend, Southland lost 55-38 at home to Tasman but a week prior, they were humiliated 75-19 by Wellington. In their two matches before that, they conceded 64 and 54 points each.

That heavy losing streak came off the back of three successive victories against Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Manawatu.
