Montpellier and Connacht are set to clash, with Montpellier showing strong form, particularly at home, having won 6 of their last 7 matches and 7 of their last 8 home games. Connacht, meanwhile, have been struggling, especially away from home, losing 9 of their last 10 away matches. In previous encounters, both teams have claimed a victory each. Experts predict that Montpellier will cover the -12.5 handicap. Connacht will need to improve their away game significantly to stand a chance against a formidable Montpellier side.

Montpellier vs Connacht Predictions

Montpellier won both their European Challenge Cup fixtures and have been performing well at home this season. Connacht have been struggling lately and have no form on the road.

  • Montpellier have won 6 of their last 7 matches in all competitions.
  • Montpellier have won 7 of their last 8 home games in all competitions.
  • Connacht have lost 4 of their last 5 fixtures in all competitions.
  • Connacht have lost 9 of their last 10 away games in all competitions.

Head to Head

Montpellier and Connacht have recorded one victory each in two meetings.

Montpellier Form

Montpellier have had a solid beginning to their European Challenge Cup campaign, defeating Black Lion 24-13 away and Zebre 31-7 at home.

Montpellier defeated Lyon 35-13, lost 9-7 to Clermont, and beat Bordeaux 28-24, Castres 33-31, and Bayonne 62-22 in their last five home games in the Top 14.

Montpellier will fancy their chances against Connacht, as they have enjoyed regular success at home this season, winning their last four outings consecutively.

Connacht Form

Connacht lost their EPCR Challenge Cup opener to the Ospreys 24-21 before crushing Black Lion 52-0 at home.

Connacht have been poor away from home in the URC this season. They lost 14-8 to Cardiff, 17-15 to Munster, and 48-28 to the Dragons.

Connacht must find a way to improve their away form to have a chance of victory in France; however, they will find the going tough, as Montpellier are performing well.

Team News

Montpellier

Alexander Masibaka has scored two tries in the 2025/26 EPCR Challenge Cup.

Domingo Miotti has slotted three conversions in the competition so far.

Connacht

Coach John Muldoon has stated that Connacht face a tough challenge against Montpellier: “A massive pack, big scrum, big maul. The names they have, the players they have - big ball carriers. They love to be on top of you. They love go-forward ball. We’ve got to try to stop that. And then once you stop that, you change how they play.”

Captain Cian Prendergast and Matthew Devine are doubtful starters.

Verdict

Montpellier have been in great shape lately, including on home soil, and are tipped to cover the -12.5 handicap.
