Bulls vs Lions Predictions - Lions to cover against Bulls at Loftus

Editor
Last updated: 3 hours ago

The Bulls and Lions are set to face off, with both teams missing key players due to international duties. Historically, the Bulls have been strong at home, winning their last two matches against the Lions. Bulls are currently sixth on the table after three wins out of five games this season. The Lions, on the other hand, sit eighth and have yet to make URC playoffs, despite a recent home win against Ulster. Predictions suggest the Lions will get within the +13.5 handicap.

Bulls vs Lions Predictions

Both teams are missing a few players with the Springboks in action this weekend. I don’t see the Lions winning at Loftus, but they have the potential to get withing the two scores. Lions on +13.5 looks good value.

  • Bulls have won their last 2 home matches.
  • Lions have lost their last 3 away matches.

Head to Head

Last season the Bulls did the double on the Lions, winning 35-22 away and 31-19 at home.

Bulls Form

The Bulls have won three of five URC games this season and currently sit sixth on the table.

A home win against the Lions could push them a place higher, should Ulster lose. The three-time URC runners-up began the season well but have now lost two of their last three matches – both of which were away from home.

Following two home wins in the first two rounds, the Bulls lost 28-7 away to Ulster before narrowly beating Connacht 28-27 away. The Bulls last game was on 24 October before the international break, a match which saw them lose 21-12 to Glasgow away.

Lions Form

The Lions are up to eighth on the table with two wins in their five games. In their four seasons in the URC, the Lions remain the only South African side that has yet to make the playoffs.

The Johannesburg-based side began the campaign with there straight losses, all away from home. They lost 22-20 to Zebre, 41-15 to Benetton and 33-20 to Cardiff.

However, a return home brought a change in fortunate. The Lions beat Scarlets 29-18 and in their last match defeated Ulster 49-31.

Verdict

Both teams are missing some key international players, so I am backing the Lions to get withing the +13.5 handicap.
