The upcoming Stormers vs Bulls match is poised to be an exciting encounter with the Stormers entering as favorites, given their strong home record and current form, having won their last five home matches. Despite injury concerns affecting key players, including Springbok stars, the Stormers have managed impressive results. On the other hand, the Bulls have struggled on the road but could benefit from the return of Springbok players like Handre Pollard and Kurt-Lee Arendse. The forecast suggests a Stormers win by more than 7.5 points.

Stormers vs Bulls Predictions

Stormers are favourites at home, with an impeccable home win record. My best bet is the Stormers to cover the - 7.5 handicap.

  • Stormers are unbeaten in their last 5 matches.
  • Stormers have won 3 of their last 5 encounters against the Bulls.
  • Stormers come into this match off the back of a 34-27 victory over the Lions.
  • Bulls have lost 4 of their last 5 away matches.
  • Bulls come into this match off the back of a 21-12 loss at the Sharks.

Head to Head

Stormers have won three of their last five encounters against the Bulls.

Stormers Form

Stormers have made an excellent start to their season, winning their last five home matches across the United Rugby Championship and the Champions Cup. The Stormers come into this match off the back of a 34-27 win over the Lions.

Their previous home results include wins over Cardiff (34-24), Leinster (35-0), Ospreys (26-10), and La Rochelle (42-21), continuing an impressive run of form at home.

Stormers are currently first in the United Rugby Championship with 32 points after seven matches.

Stormers Injuries & Team News

Springbok superstars Damien Willemse (utility-back) and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (fly-half) are in a race against time to recover from injury for the Bulls derby. Experienced centre Dan du Plessis also remains sidelined after suffering a knee injury a few weeks ago.

Influential centre Ruhan Nel could be out for up to eight weeks after suffering a serious calf injury, while inside centre Jonathan Roche and utility back Wandisile Simelane are in doubt for selection after suffering hand fractures against the Lions.

Bulls Form

Bulls are currently experiencing a poor run of form on the road, losing four of their last five matches and come into this match off the back of a 21-12 defeat at the Sharks.

The intensity of the traditional north-south derby, in addition to the introduction of a few Springboks, could ignite the Bulls team, which may make this derby a tight encounter.

Their previous away results include a loss at Ulster (28-7), a win at Connacht (28-27), and losses at Glasgow (21-12) and Northampton (50-5).

Bulls are currently 10th in the United Rugby Championship with 15 points after seven matches.

Bulls Injuries & Team News

The Bulls will be able to call on their Springboks for the first time this season, which will enable coach Johan Ackermann to pick from a full squad of players and arrest their five-game losing streak.

The Springboks available for selection include utility back Canaan Moodie, lock Ruan Nortje, fly-half Handre Pollard, flanker Marco van Staden and winger Kurt-Lee Arendse.

Verdict

Stormers have yet to lose this season and I am backing that to continue with a win by more than 7.5 points.
