Match Previews & Betting Odds

Dragons vs Leinster

The Dragons are winless through five rounds while Leinster have two wins and three defeats. The early handicap is set at 20.5 points with Leinster as favourites and I suspect the bookmakers realise that the international players will not feature.

While the hosts are winless, they have drawn two of their five fixtures at home and can be quite plucky. It may be a good option to back the plucky Newport outfit.

Ulster vs Benetton

Ulster were poor last season but found their feet again in the opening five rounds this time around. They have won three of their four games with one being postponed. Benetton are a strong side, but their away form is highly suspect.

Ulster are favourties with the handicap set at 17.5 points, something I fancy them to cover at this point. Team announcements could, however, make a difference.

Bulls vs Lions

A South African derby to look forward to, known as the Jukskei derby. It is a pity that the Springboks still have a game this weekend, so neither team will have access to all their international players. I expect a tight game, so the 13.5 handicap in the Bulls favour is a bit steep for me.

Zebre vs Cardiff

Zebre have looked good this season and will be confident of overturning Cardiff at home. The Cardiff Blues are without several internationals as they are facing South Africa on Saturday. The handicap is at 7.5 in the host's favour.

Edinburgh vs Ospreys

Edinburgh are huge favourites with the handicap set at 24.5. This is mostly down to Ospreys missing key players to the Welsh national side. It is a tough one to call though as Edinburgh's form has not been great this campaign.

Munster vs Stormers

It is a pity this game has to be played this weekend. They are the only remaining unbeaten sides in the URC, but neither will be at full strength at Thomond Park. Irish internationals are likely to rest while the Stormers have several players on Springbok duty.

Munster are favourites to win at 1.30 with a handicap of 8.5.

Connacht vs Sharks

The Sharks have a very good squad, so should have a very good side out despite numerous players who are still on international duty. However, the Sharks have been atrocious this season and turning in Galway will not be easy.

The hosts are favouries with an 8.5 handicap laid on them.

Scarlets vs Glasgow

Glasgow have been superb in recent years, and they will be looking for another push towards. While the Glasgow side are away, it is the perfection opportunity for them to stamp their authority on a Scarlets side missing key players.

This Weekends Best Bets for Round 6 (28/29 November)

  • Ulster -17.5 vs Benetton at 1.90.
  • Lions +13.5 vs Bulls at 1.91
  • Munster - 8.5 vs Stormers at 1.91
