The 2025 Rugby Championship is certainly one of the most anticipated tournaments every year. In 2025, that hype has gone up an extra notch.
The reason...is simple.
South Africa have won the last two Rugby World Cup's which mean they now solely sit atop of the world with four World Cup titles. New Zealand do not like that given how they have dominated the sport over the last three decades.
To add to that, last year, South Africa have won their last four matches against New Zealand. That run includes two wins last year and victory in the 2023 Rugby World Cup final.
This season, the Springboks travel to New Zealand for two test matches in the Rugby Championship. One of those matches will take place at Eden Park in Auckland - a ground where New Zealand have not lost in 50 Test matches (since 1994). So, that record is on the line.
To add to that, despite Australia's poor performances over the last few years, they should be up for this after coming out of a British & Irish Lions tour while Argentina have steadily improved in recent seasons.
