After winning the 2024 U20 Six Nations, England U20 could only manage a second-place finish to France in 2025. However, the English had it in their control, only to blow it with a surprise defeat to Wales U20.

Behind France, England are the favourites to win the 2025 U20 World Rugby Championship, however, they have been given a tough group. England began their campaign with a convincing performance, beating Scotland 56-19 on Sunday.

This South African side will provide a far sterner test for the English, though. However, England have had the better of their counterparts at U20 level recently.

South Africa U20 Form

South Africa had a very disappointing U20 Rugby Championship in 2025. They lost two and won one game, finishing third behind New Zealand and Australia.

The entire tournament was played in South Africa, so there was little reason for the Baby Boks to fail like that. They beat Argentina in round one before taking a commanding lead against Australia, before collapsing to concede the game.

That was followed by a narrow loss to the Baby All Blacks. That said, South Africa U20 bounced back with class in their opening game on Sunday, running Australia to pieces, winning 73-17.
