Head to Head
New Zealand have won all six previous matches against Fiji. In the 1st Test last week New Zealand won 57-23 in Dunedin.
New Zealand Form
New Zealand struggled a bit during the 2020 season with four games against Australia and two against Argentina. They enjoyed two comfortable victories against the Wallabies but also lost and drew to the same opposition.
To continue their poor run in 2020, New Zealand suffered their first ever defeat (25-15) to Argentina. They did follow it up with a 40 point victory the following week over Argentina.
In their first match of 2021, the All Blacks beat Tonga 102-0. Last week they got a bit of a shock against Fiji but ran away in the end to win 57-23.
New Zealand Team News
Dalton Papalili and Karl Tu’inukuafe are both still recovering from injuries suffered against Tonga two weeks ago. Neither are expected to feature.
In better news, Ardie Savea and Anton Lienert-Brown look set to return from injury this week.
Fiji Form
Fiji will be pleased with their performance in the 1st Test against the All Blacks last week. They held their own for much of the match, but as expected, the hosts ran away with it in the final 20 minutes.
Just after half-time Fiji had pulled within eight points of New Zealand. At that point the score was 31-23 but superior quality off the bench and greater fitness proved decisive.
New Zealand scored 26 unanswered points in the final 20 minutes to make the final score 57-23. With the All Blacks better prepared, Fiji could struggle this week to keep the score down.
Fiji Team News
Fiji have no reported injury concerns. They could go with the same lineup as last week.
