Chiefs vs Highlanders Predictions

The Chiefs are on a winning streak against the Highlanders and are set to make this season's Super Rugby play-offs. The Highlanders must win to keep their hopes of making the play-offs alive, but they have struggled to win on the road lately.

  • Chiefs have won 4 consecutive home games.
  • Chiefs have won 4 consecutive home games against the Highlanders.
  • Highlanders have lost 9 of their last 10 away fixtures.
  • Highlanders have lost 8 consecutive matches to the Chiefs.

Head to Head

The Chiefs have the advantage with 18 victories to 12 against the Highlanders, including one draw in 31 meetings.

Chiefs Form

The Chiefs produced a solid second half of rugby against the Reds last weekend, winning 31-21 away from home after leading 10-7 at the break.

The Chiefs were defeated in their opening home match of the season, losing 43-33 to the Crusaders before beating Moana Pasifika 57-24, the Waratahs 42-14, the Hurricanes 22-19, and Fijian Drua 42-22.

The Chiefs are second in the Super Rugby standings with 40 points from 11 games.

The Chiefs will fancy their chances of securing all the points on offer, as they have been in excellent form lately, winning six in a row, including four on the trot at home.

Highlanders Form

The Highlanders held on to secure a narrow 31-26 home win over the Waratahs last weekend after leading 28-7 at half-time.

The Highlanders have played five other fixtures this season. They lost 36-14 to the Reds, 29-18 to the Crusaders, and beat Moana Pasifika 39-19 before losing 47-40 to the Blues and 24-14 to Fijian Drua.

The Highlanders are 7th in the Super Rugby table with 24 points from 12 matches.

The Highlanders must win to close the gap on the Reds and the Brumbies in the league standings to have a chance of making the play-offs. However, they have been in poor away form, losing nine of their last 10 games, including eight in a row against the Chiefs.
