The Reds entertain the Waratahs in the first game of the new Super Rugby AU on Friday, 3 July, at Suncorp Stadium. Neither side were all that impressive during Super Rugby 2020, but I'm tipping the Reds to win in Brisbane.

The Reds' inexperienced side showed signs of improvement prior to the lockdown break. Their two wins both came at home.
Before the break, the Reds lost on home soil to the Sharks 33-23, and then were defeated 24-20 in a close clash away at the Crusaders.
Their last game before the coronavirus-enforced break ended in a brilliant 41-17 win over the Bulls at Suncorp Stadium. After falling behind 17-0, the Reds found strength and scored 41 unanswered points.
The Reds have unfortunately had to say goodbye to three talented young players as contract negotiation problems saw Izack Rodda, Harry Hockings and Isaac Lucas terminate their contract with the Reds.
Waratahs Form & News
The Waratahs were very poor during Super Rugby 2020, losing six of their seven games.
Their fixtures prior to the lockdown break saw them destroyed 51-14 at home by the Chiefs, before picking up a 29-17 win at home against the Lions.
The Tahs' final game before the break saw them travel to the Brumbies at GIO Stadium. The hosts scored seven tries in a 47-14 demolition of the Waratahs.
Kurtley Beale will not be returning for the Super Rugby AU as he has been released early from his contract. It will be a massive blow for the team because of his experience and ability.
