The North African side won their opening game of CHAN with ease, thrashing Uganda 3-0 on Monday. A first half goal by Ayoub Ghezala gave Algeria a 1-0 half time lead before Abderrahmane Meziane and Sofiane Bayazid scored in the 76th and 70th minute respectively.

The scoreline perhaps didn’t tell the full story as Uganda enjoyed plenty of possession through the game, creating few chances that they were unable to take.

South Africa Form

South Africa have yet to play in the CHAN tournament this year. They qualified for this competition by beating Malawi over two legs back in May this year.

Since then, Bafana Bafana has played in the COSAFA Cup where they lost their opening group fixture to Mozambique but still progressed from the group.

They then beat Comoros 3-1 in the semi-final only to go down 3-0 to Angola in the final.
