Head to Head
Algeria have a slim advantage of four victories to three over Uganda, with four encounters ending in a draw in 11 meetings.
The last team these two national teams met was in 2003 when Algeria came out on top with a 1-0 win away from home.
The fixture has moved from the Oran Olympic Stadium to Stade du 5 Juillet.
Algeria Form
Algeria were the defending Africa Cup of Nations champions but could not progress past the group stages at the recent edition after some indifferent performances, drawing 0-0 with Sierra Leone, losing 1-0 to Equatorial Guniea and 3-1 to the Ivory Coast.
In March, they experienced further disappointment when they were knocked out by Cameroon over two legs on the away goals rule after a 2-1 loss at home and failed to reach the World Cup in Qatar.
Their last five results across all competitions are D, L, L, W and D, scoring three goals and conceding six.
The Fennec Foxes have not played any football since their defeat to Cameroon, but they have the home ground advantage, and they have never lost at home to their opposition. Can they make it count, or will the loss of their talisman captain affect the result?

Uganda Form
Uganda did not have a great run in the AFCON qualifies last time out, but they had a decent World Cup qualifying campaign, winning two, losing one and drawing three to finish second in Group E, but they failed to progress to the next stage.
Since then, the Cranes have played five international friendlies away from home in 2022, beating Moldova 3-2, losing to Iraq 1-0 and 3-1 to Bahrain before winning 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Tajikistan, and then suffering a 4-2 loss to Uzbekistan.
They scored seven goals and conceded 11 in those fixtures.
Uganda have yet to defeat Algeria on their home soil, but if they can replicate their World Cup qualifying form, they should give themselves a chance to walk away with something from the match.
