Botswana vs Guinea Predictions - Goals backed in Guinea World Cup qualifier win

Guinea have won all three previous encounters against Botswana. Their last game was however in 2012, a match Guinea won 6-1 away from home.

Botswana were reasonably competitive in the COSAFA Cup earlier this year although they just managed a single win. That came against Eswatini.

However, Botswana took South Africa close in a 2-1 defeat while they also drew 0-0 against Nigeria. In their final ACCON qualifier, Botswana went down 3-0 in Tunisia.

A 2-1 friendly win in October over Eswatini set a nice tone heading into the World Cup qualifiers. However, this past weekend, Botswana went down 3-2 at home to Mozambique.

They were 2-0 down before pulling a goal back, but a minute later they were 3-1 down. Botswana created an exciting end to the game by making it 3-2 with five to play but couldn’t find the equaliser.

After defeat in their opening game on home soil, Botswana simply must take all three points at home this time around. I suspect there may be a few changes, especially at the back where they looked very suspect this past weekend.

Guinea are unbeaten in their last four matches since losing 4-1 to Brazil in a friendly. In their final AFCON qualifier, Guinea drew 2-2 in Malawi.

In their two friendly fixtures since, Guinea beat Guinea-Bissau 1-0 at home and drew 1-1 to Gabon. At the weekend Guinea laboured to a 2-1 home win over Uganda. After taking an early lead, Uganda leveled at the half-hour mark.

It took until the 90th minute for Guinea to find a winner through Seydouba Cisse.

It is a short turnaround so there could be changes to the Guinea side. After winning their first home game, they will be very keen to get an away three points under the belt.
