Moroka Swallows vs AmaZulu Predictions
The Birds have turned a corner of late whilst AmaZulu are proving very hard to beat. Usuthu have drawn 0-0 in four matches this season and I’m backing another stalemate here.
- Moroka Swallows have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 6 home matches.
- Moroka Swallows are undefeated in 8 of their last 10 PSL matches.
- AmaZulu have drawn 2 of their last 3 away matches.
- AmaZulu have failed to score in 4 away matches.
Head to Head
AmaZulu hold a 13-9 lead over Swallows across 29 previous clashes.
Swallows won 1-0 at Usuthu when the sides last met in April.
Moroka Swallows Form & Team News
A three-match winless start (DLL) has been followed by three wins in the last four matches. The Birds have jumped to fourth in the PSL table.
A 2-1 win away at Sekhukhune United saw a last-minute howler hand Moroka Swallows the three points. They followed it up by beating Cape Town Spurs 3-1 at home as they led 2-0 after eight minutes.
A shock 1-0 home loss to Richards Bay saw their opponent ended a 21-match winless streak. Their last match brought a fine 2-0 win away at Stellenbosch FC.
Coach Steve Komphela is set to play a compact 4-4-2 shape. Gabadinho Mhango will partner four-goal Tshegofatso Mabasa up front.
Keegan Allan returns from injury at centre back. Kwanda Mngonyama will drop to the bench.
Moroka Swallows Predicted Lineup
Akpeyi; Phillips, Allan, V. Sibiya, Sam; Makhubela, Jali, Phalane, Mtshali; Mabasa, Mhango.
AmaZulu Form & Team News
AmaZulu have been beaten just once in seven matches this season. They started the season with three 0-0 draws in a row.
After 3-0 loss at Kaizer Chiefs, they won successive league fixtures. TS Galaxy were dispatched 1-0 at home and two injury time goals sealed a 3-2 home win over Cape Town City.
In midweek, Usuthu went to Polokwane City and drew 0-0. They played a back five with another defender in midfield and ground out a dull point.
Coach Pablo Franco Martin has striker Sede Dion back after injury. After two sub outings, he could be handed a start.
Centre back Taariq Fielies will hope to keep his place. Mbongeni Gumede is back from suspension and will return to the XI.
AmaZulu Predicted Lineup
Mothwa; Gumede, Mphahlele, Fielies; Sikhakhane, Mobara, Brooks, Hanamub; Kwem, Dion, Moremi.
Verdict
I see this match having very few (if any) goals. I'm backing Under 1.5 goals and a draw as a result. A 0-0 draw is my tip based on AmaZulu having four goalless stalemates in seven matches so far.
