Right after that, the Atleti suffered another defeat, this time against struggling Sevilla 1-0 despite having 60% possession, 16-10 shots and 1.46-1.55 expected goals.

They returned to winning ways last weekend in La Liga by crushing Las Palmas 5-0 at home with Marcos Llorente and Angel Correa scoring two goals each. Memphis Depay also appeared on the scoresheet.

As for the UEFA Champions League, Atletico Madrid easily topped Group E with 14 points ahead of Lazio, Feyenoord and Celtic.
