Head-to-Head

This will be the first-ever meeting between Roma and Brighton.

Roma Form

Roma edged past Feyenoord on penalties in the Europa League play-off after a 2-2 aggregate draw. Both legs ended 1-1 and Romelu Lukaku struck in the first fixture in the Netherlands.

The Giallorossi won their two following Serie A matches against Torino (3-2) and Monza (4-1).

Roma had 1.9 expected goals in the Monza win and Lorenzo Pellegrini and Lukaku scored in the first half. Paulo Dybala and Leandro Parades were on target after the break to secure the win.

Roma Injuries & Team News

Striker Tammy Abraham is unavailable due to injury.

Brighton Form

Brighton reached the Europa League round of 16 in December after finishing top of Group B. The Seagulls won four, lost one and drew once in their group campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been out of form recently and are winless in three consecutive matches. A 1-1 draw with Everton was followed by a 1-0 loss against Wolves and a 3-0 defeat at Fulham.

Brighton trailed Fulham 2-0 at half time on Saturday and tried to respond with 15 shots and 1.15 expected goals. De Zerbi’s side couldn’t strike and conceded a third in the 90th minute.

Brighton Injuries & Team News

Forward duo Joao Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma are ruled out.

Midfield trio Solly March, Jack Hinshelwood and James Milner are also unavailable.

Verdict

Roma are in strong form and Lukaku often provides a scoring threat in the Europa League. There is value on the Giallorossi to seal a first-leg lead over declining Brighton.
