The Sydney Thunder had a horror season last time out, finishing bottom of the BBL table with just one win in 10 matches. They did have two no results and seven defeats.

On five occasions since the Big Bash started in 2011, the Thunder have finished rock bottom. However, they made the playoffs in four successive seasons before taking the wooden spoon in 2023/24.

This season offers the Thunder a fresh opportunity to go all the way. They do have the squad to perform but whether they can match their one championship season in 2015/16 remains to be seen.

David Warner may be key to the Thunder’s cause this season as we all know what damage he can do. Also, Daniel Sams will be looking to find his form again while Jason Sangha has already proven his quality in this competition. International signing, Sam Billings will also be looking for a big season.
