In 2012, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) struck an agreement with Verus International founder Ajmal Khan to fund the tournament - and there has been no looking back since.

Six sides from across the Caribbean take part in the tournament.

The tournament's current official name is Hero CPL, as it is sponsored by Hero MotoCorp.
